ASPM Cancellations: Definitions of Variables

The following definitions define the fields in the ASPM reports of ASPM Cancellations:

  • Arrival Airport. Three- or four-character code identifying the arrival airport.
  • ASQP Cancelled. In the Cancelled Flights Report, a yes/no variable indicating an ASQP flight with an ASQP Cancellation record.
  • ASQP Cancellations. Number of cancelled flights at a selected airport or group or airport as reported by the Airline Service Quality Performance (ASQP) air carriers to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
  • ASQP Cancelled Arrivals. Count of cancelled departures for Airline Service Quality Performance (ASQP) carriers.
  • ASQP Cancelled Departures. Count of cancelled departures for Airline Service Quality Performance (ASQP) carriers.
  • ASQP Cause (Carrier, Weather, NAS, Security). Cause of cancellation provided on Airline Service Quality Performance (ASQP) flight cancellation records.
  • Carrier Code. The three-letter code identifying the carrier.
  • Completion Rate. The percentage of scheduled and/or planned air carrier arrivals that were not cancelled. Calculated as Metric Arrivals/(Metric Arrivals + Cancelled Arrivals). Cancelled Arrivals are determined next day using air carrier flight plan cancellation messages and scheduled flights not flown. ASQP cancellation data are used when available.
  • Departure Airport. Three- or four-character code identifying the departure airport.
  • Flight Number. The number identifying the flight as assigned by the air carrier. Permissible values: 1–9999.
  • Metric Arrivals. Flight arrivals used for calculating metrics in ASPM. Includes flight records that meet the following criteria: itinerant flights to or from one of the ASPM 77 airports or operated by one of the ASPM Carriers with actual arrival and departure and flight plan times that are reported or can be estimated from the other flight record data. General aviation and military flights are excluded.
  • Metric Departures. Flight departures used for calculating metrics in ASPM. Includes flight records that meet the following criteria: itinerant flights to or from one of the ASPM 77 airports or operated by one of the ASPM Carriers with actual arrival and departure and flight plan times that are reported or can be estimated from the other flight record data. General aviation and military flights are excluded.
  • Metric Operations. The sum of arrivals and departures used for calculating metrics in ASPM. Includes flight records that meet the following criteria: itinerant flights to or from one of the ASPM 77 Airports or operated by one of the ASPM Carriers with actual arrival and departure and flight plan times that are reported or can be estimated from the other flight record data. General aviation and military flights are excluded.
  • Scheduled Arrival Time. Time of arrival according to Schedule.
  • Scheduled Arrivals. Count of Scheduled arrivals for the selected airport.
  • Scheduled Departure Date. Scheduled Departure Date observed using time/date at a particular location.
  • Scheduled Departure Time. Time of departure according to Schedule.
  • Scheduled Departures. Count Scheduled Departures for the selected airport.
  • Scheduled Flights Not Flown. On the Cancelled Flights Report, a yes/no variable indicating whether the flight was a scheduled flight that was not flown.
  • Scheduled Flights Not Flown Arrivals. Counts of scheduled arrivals that did not take place. Determined by comparing scheduled arrivals from Innovata to arrivals in ASPM.
  • Scheduled Flights Not Flown Departures. Counts of scheduled departures that did not take place. Determined by comparing scheduled flights from Innovata to departures in ASPM.
  • Scheduled Operations. Number of operations (arrivals and departures) listed in a published schedule.
  • TFMS Flight Plan Cancelled. On the Cancelled Flights Report, a yes/no variable indicating that the Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) flight plan was cancelled and not re-filed for that particular flight.
  • TFMS Flight Plan Cancelled Arrivals. Count of cancelled arrivals for ASPM carriers and all other carriers reporting scheduled traffic, based on Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) Flight Plan cancellation records.
  • TFMS Flight Plan Cancelled Departures. Count of cancelled departures for ASPM carriers and all other carriers reporting scheduled traffic, based on Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) Flight Plan cancellation records.
  • Total Arrival Cancellations. The super-set of cancelled arrivals as determined by combination of scheduled flights not flown and flight plans cancelled that were not re-filed for ASPM carriers and all other carriers reporting schedule data; and ASQP flight cancellations (received approximately six weeks after the end of each month).
  • Total Cancellations. Total number of cancelled operations at selected airport.
  • Total Departure Cancellations. The super-set of cancelled departures as determined by a combination of scheduled flights not flown and TFMS flight plans that were cancelled and not re-filed for ASPM carriers and all other carriers reporting schedule data; and ASQP flight cancellations (received approximately six weeks after the end of each month).
