The following definitions define the fields in CountOps Reports:

  • Beacon. Four-digit beacon code.
  • CallSign. Aircraft callsign (also known as flight number). If the controller changes the callsign at any point during the flight, all records will be updated with the new callsign.
  • Category. Designation from the National Offload Program based on the equipment reported. Permissible values: Air Carrier, Air Taxi, General Aviation, and Military.
  • CountOps. In the Comparison Reports of CountOps, the number of operations provided by CountOps sorted by itinerant (IFR, VFR), overflight (IFR, VFR), local, and total.
  • Difference. In the Comparison Reports of CountOps, the difference between number of CountOps and OPSNET operations sorted by itinerant (IFR, VFR), overflight (IFR, VFR), local, and total.
  • Entry Fix. Entry fix received from NAS fix pairs. IFR departures typically list the departure airports. Other records typically list fix names agreed to between the ARTCC and TRACON.
  • Equipment. Typically a three- or four-character field indicating the aircraft type, as received from the National Offload Program.
  • Exit Fix. Exit fix received from NAS fix pairs. IFR arrivals typically list the arrival airports. Other records typically list fix names agreed to between the ARTCC and TRACON.
  • Heading. True heading of aircraft at time of message.
  • Itinerant. Number of IFR or VFR Itinerant operations sorted by category (Air Carrier, Air Taxi, General Aviation, Military). Itinerant operations are those performed by an aircraft, under IFR or VFR, that lands at an airport arriving from outside the airport area, or departs from an airport and leave the airport area.
  • Local Date. Local date when the flight was counted (YYYYMMDD).
  • Local Time. Local hour when the flight was counted.
  • Local. Number of local operations sorted by category (General Aviation, Military). Local operations are those performed by an aircraft that remains in the local traffic pattern, executes simulated instrument approaches or low-passes at the airport, and operations to or from the same airport within a designated practice area within a 20-miles radius of the tower.
  • Operation Type. Permissible values: Arrival, Departure, Overflight, Manual. Manual counts are non-automated counts.
  • OPSNET. In the Comparison Reports of CountOps, the number of OPSNET operations sorted by itinerant (IFR, VFR), overflight (IFR, VFR), local, and total.
  • Overflight. Number of IFR or VFR Overflight operations sorted by category (Air Carrier, Air Taxi, General Aviation, Military). Overflight operations are IFR and VFR operations performed by an aircraft that originates outside the towers' airspace and enters and exits the towers' or TRACON’s airspace without landing. This count can also include operations performed by a helicopter that lands or departs from an airport non-movement area or from an off-airport location.
  • Replacement. A filter option for the Detail, Runway Usage, Runway Validation, and Custom report allowing the user to choose to include or exclude replacement records. Options are Any, Yes, or No. Also a Yes/No field in the Detail Report. When the Offload feed is interrupted and data for particular facilities are not retrievable, the CountOps staff uses replacement records from like days for the purpose of reporting operations counts. In most cases users will want to exclude replacement records from any facility-specific analysis of runway usage or other operational detail. Replacement data will be excluded from ASPM flight level records.
  • Replacements. A field indicating the number of replacement records in the Runway Validation, Runway Configuration, and Custom reports.
  • Rules. Flight rules. Permissible values: All, IFR, VFR, VPA (VFR Practice Approach), IPA (IFR Practice Approach).
  • Runway. Runway used for arrival or departure (if adapted).
  • Scratch Pad 1. Note field available for controller use. Values are currently not standardized.
  • Scratch Pad 2. Note field available for controller use. Values are currently not standardized.
  • Show Only Operations >. Filter option determining the minimum number of operations to display in the desired report.
  • Special 1. Special designator 1. 1. Data entered by controller in TRACON or ARTCC and passed to the controller in the Tower. Values are: B: RNAV/Heavy; C: Center; E: Enroute; F: B757; H: Heavy; J: Jumbo; L: RNAV/B757; M: RNAV/Jumbo; P: VFR; R: RNAV; V: VFR Data entered by the controller or received from ARTCC. List available on request.
  • Special 2. Special designator 2. Data entered by the controller or received from ARTCC. List available on request.
  • Tower Flag. Class of tower operation. Admissible values: IFR Itinerant, VFR Itinerant, Local Count, IFR Overflight, VFR Overflight.
  • Tower Operation Class. Class of tower operation. Admissible values: IFR Itinerant, VFR Itinerant, Local Count, IFR Overflight, VFR Overflight.
  • Tower. Three-character code identifying the tower.
  • TRACON Flag. Class of TRACON operation. Admissible values: A = IFR Itinerant Class; B = IFR Itinerant Other; C = IFR Itinerant Secondary < 15 miles; E = IFR Itinerant Secondary >= 15 miles; G = VFR Itinerant Class; H = VFR Itinerant Other; I = VFR Itinerant Secondary < 15 miles; K = VFR Itinerant Secondary >= 15 miles; M = IFR Overflight; O = VFR Overflight.
  • TRACON Operation Class. Class of TRACON operation. Admissible values: A = IFR Itinerant Class; B = IFR Itinerant Other; C = IFR Itinerant Secondary < 15 miles; E = IFR Itinerant Secondary >= 15 miles; G = VFR Itinerant Class; H = VFR Itinerant Other; I = VFR Itinerant Secondary < 15 miles; K = VFR Itinerant Secondary >= 15 miles; M = IFR Overflight; O = VFR Overflight .
