The Air Traffic Activity Data System (ATADS) is the official source of historical air traffic operations for center, airport, instrument and approach counts. Daily, monthly and annual counts are available either by facility, state, region, or nationally. Some ranking tables are also available.

Guide on how to use the ATADS database

Alert: There will be changes to the reporting of traffic counts effective July 1, 2008 which will be reflected in the finalized counts by August 20, 2008

This web site will reflect changes in traffic count reporting for data starting July 1, 2008.  The changes will primarily be reflected in the Instrument Operations that are currently being reported.

Currently, we report Airport Operations, Instrument Operations, Terminal Facilities, Center and Approach Operations.

The new system will report Airport Operations, Tower Operations, TRACON Operations, Total Terminal Facilities, and Center.  We are eliminating the Instrument Operations and Approach Operations links.  All Instrument Operations traffic will be captured but populated in different fields between the new Tower Operations and TRACON Operations sections.

  • Historical counting and reporting inaccuracies are being corrected for terminal facilities effective July 1, 2008
  • Common reporting guidance and templates for TRACONs and Towers will simplify policy/process, training, and quality assurance
  • Changes will improve integrity and accuracy of traffic count reports used inside and outside of the FAA

To help understand the changes to come and how they may affect this web site, we have included the following link:
